Guilt and Obedience

“David’s conscience troubled him after he had taken a census of the troops. He said to the Lord, “I have sinned greatly in what I’ve done. Now, Lord, because I’ve been very foolish, please take away Your servant’s guilt.”” 2 Samuel‬ ‭24:10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
“David went up in obedience to Gad’s command, just as the Lord had commanded.” 2 Samuel‬ ‭24:19‬ ‭HCSB‬‬
In the same chapter David experiences guilt and then practices obedience. This is many of my days as well. The guilt I feel over my sin helps me be obedient in future. As believers, we do not need to wallow in our guilt, but we can let it lead us to the merciful, loving and gracious arms of our Lord and Savior. Don’t let guilt of your sin overtake you, let it take you to Jesus! As you experience this grace and love, you will want to be obedient in the future… His kindness leads to repentance (Rom. 2:4).
Have you trusted Jesus and your Lord and Savior? Have you let Jesus take your guilt and shame in exchange for his right standing with God? All it takes is faith… For more info on how to be freed of your guilt contact me

Ready, Set, Quiet Time!

Brother Glenn brought a good WORD yesterday about having a daily time with God.  I really appreciate his K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple smiley) approach.  Two essentials for a time with God: Time in the WORD and time talking to God through prayer.  Many times I hear people ask, “where should I start reading in the bible.” Anywhere is great!  Romans is a fav of mine or Ephesians… Proverbs has 31 chapters, so that’s a good one to start at the beginning of the month…. But starting at pg. 1 (The book of Genesis) is always a good idea too. There is really no wrong answer to this question!   I think that is why it is so hard for people to pick a spot to start, so here are some great passages to look at as you seek to spend some daily quality time with God this week.  After these, pick from one of the books I mentioned above and enjoy the richness of God’s WORD and the time you will have with Him!
Romans 12:1-2
And so, dear brothers and sisters I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faithGod saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Romans 5:1-2
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
John 15:16-17
16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. 17 This is my command: Love each other.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
